Auckland

Walked down to the Harbour Bridge, then along the waterside to the Viaduct, a newly developed waterside area with cafes and a park. Drooled over the huge yachts. Walked in to the city centre, Chancery (an area of pubs & cafes), Auckland University 'Ivory' Tower, Albert Park, Town Hall. Then over to the Auckland Domain, a large park where the Auckland Museum is located. Fascinating collection of Maori and South Pacific artefacts and galleries of items showing the lifestyle of the better-off 19th century settlers.  The floor above was devoted to natural history and the volcano gallery was very good.

Met up with a friend in the evening and had an excellent dinner in a restaurant down by the Viaduct, well-known apparently a the location of a TV food and cooking series..
